Why you need the policy

Professional liability (errors and omissions) insurance pays for clients' losses caused by a specialist's mistake: a wrong valuation, an audit oversight, an error in documents. For notaries, valuers, insolvency practitioners, customs representatives and members of a number of self-regulatory organisations (SROs) such a policy is required by law or by the SRO.

How we calculated

Bank of Russia statistics for 2025 single out several professions. The average rate is premiums to sum insured under policies concluded during the year:

  • notaries — 0.242%;
  • individual valuers — 0.048%, valuation firms — 0.031%;
  • audit firms — 0.043%;
  • customs representatives — 0.204%;
  • other liability for failure to perform contractual obligations, including SRO members: companies — 0.522%, sole traders — 0.779%, individuals — 0.927%.

The calculator multiplies the chosen sum insured by these rates.

What affects the price

  • Profession, volume and value of work, number of staff.
  • Minimum sum insured set by law or SRO rules.
  • Retroactive period: whether mistakes from past years are covered.
  • Deductible and previous client claims.

Estimates by company

The company coefficient is the ratio of its average premium per professional and contractual liability policy to the market average (about RUB 62,000) according to the Bank of Russia for 2025. No data or a ratio outside 0.5–2.0 means "price on request".

Preliminary estimate

An audit firm, sum insured RUB 5 million: 5,000,000 × 0.043% ≈ RUB 2,150 a year. An SRO member company, limit RUB 10 million: about RUB 52,200.
