About the company
Balance Insurance (Balance Insurance JSC) is a Moscow-based insurer focused on corporate clients. Its current Bank of Russia licences No. 2708 were reissued on 31.10.2025 and cover voluntary property and personal insurance (other than life), compulsory state insurance of military personnel and reinsurance.
The company does not offer OSAGO, personal KASKO or life insurance. Its profile is large commercial risks: property, transport, cargo and liability. Such contracts are usually arranged individually, after underwriting, with the involvement of insurance brokers and reinsurers.
Insurance products
- Commercial property insurance — buildings, equipment and stock, including business interruption.
- Aviation insurance — aircraft and the liability of air carriers and owners.
- Marine insurance — hull and shipowners’ liability.
- Cargo insurance for all modes of transport.
- General liability and professional liability.
The voluntary personal insurance licence also allows the company to offer employers employee accident insurance — check the scope of such programmes with the insurer.
Key figures
According to the Bank of Russia, in 2025 Balance Insurance collected RUB 10.5 billion in premiums and paid out RUB 753 million, ranking 30th in the market (a share of about 0.26%). In the first half of 2026 — RUB 5.7 billion in premiums and RUB 776 million in payouts (34th place).
A low payout-to-premium ratio is typical of large corporate risks: losses are infrequent but can be very large, so a single year’s result says little about claims quality. A significant share of such risks is usually passed on to reinsurers.
Ratings and financial strength
- Expert RA — ruAA- on the national scale, stable outlook (07.04.2026). Over the past two years the rating has been upgraded twice: from ruBBB+ (2024) to ruA (2025) and to ruAA- (2026).
- Expert RA — BBB+ on the international scale, stable outlook (18.03.2026).
For a corporate policyholder the rating matters twice over: lending banks, leasing companies and public-contract customers often set a minimum insurer rating.
How to choose an insurer for corporate risks
When insuring large property or transport, compare not only the rate but also the terms: the covered risks (all risks or named perils), deductibles, per-event limits, loss assessment procedure, security and fire protection requirements, and the reinsurance programme — who shares the large risk with the company and in what proportion. Polis Re specialists can help prepare a request and compare offers — submit a request.

When an event occurs, notify the insurer immediately in the manner set out in the contract, take steps to reduce the loss, keep damaged property until the loss adjuster’s inspection and collect documents from the authorities. For large losses the company usually involves independent experts — agree the inspection schedule and document list with them.
Disputes between companies and insurers are handled through a pre-trial claim and in the commercial (arbitrazh) court. Learn more about what to do after a loss in the Insured event section, and compare companies in the insurer directory.
