About the company

Gardia (Insurance Company GARDIA JSC) is a Moscow-based insurer registered in 2004 and focused on corporate clients. It works with large industrial, transport and trading companies and is active in reinsurance: according to the Bank of Russia, inward reinsurance brought it about RUB 2.3 billion in 2025 — roughly a third of its total premiums.

Its Bank of Russia licences No. 3947 (current version dated 16.09.2026) cover voluntary property and personal insurance (other than life), compulsory liability insurance for owners of hazardous facilities (OSOPO) and reinsurance. The company does not offer OSAGO or life insurance.

Insurance products

Corporate contracts of this kind are usually negotiated individually: the insurer studies the site, the loss history and the risk management system, and spreads large risks among reinsurers. Preparing a quote for a complex risk can take several weeks, so it is best to send a request well before the current policy expires.

Key figures

According to the Bank of Russia, in 2025 Gardia collected RUB 6.7 billion in premiums and paid out RUB 445 million, ranking 39th in the market (a share of about 0.17%). In the first half of 2026 — RUB 4.0 billion in premiums and RUB 103 million in payouts; the company kept 39th place.

A low payout ratio is typical of large-risk insurance, where losses are rare but can be substantial. So to assess the company, its rating and the quality of its reinsurance protection matter more than one year’s payouts.

Rating and financial strength

On 15.06.2026 Expert RA upgraded the company’s rating to ruAAA — the highest level on the agency’s national scale — with a stable outlook. A year earlier the rating was ruAA+, and in 2023–2024 it was ruAA.

A high rating matters to corporate clients: it makes accreditation easier with banks, leasing companies and in procurement where insurers must meet reliability requirements.

OSOPO: what you need to know

Owners of hazardous facilities — filling stations, boiler houses, gas pipelines, lifts, lifting machinery, hydraulic structures — must insure their liability under Federal Law No. 225-FZ. Operating a facility without a valid policy is prohibited, and violations are fined. OSOPO rates are set by the Bank of Russia, so when choosing an insurer you mainly compare service and reliability.

Report an insured event as soon as you become aware of it, following the procedure set in the contract. Take steps to reduce the loss, keep damaged property until the loss adjuster or surveyor inspects it, and collect documents from the authorities and correspondence with counterparties.

Disputes between companies and the insurer are handled through a pre-trial claim and in the commercial (arbitrazh) court; individuals can apply to the Financial Ombudsman.
