About the company

Protecta Trade Insurance LLC is a specialist insurer that has been providing trade credit insurance, i.e. accounts receivable insurance, since 2009. Its clients are manufacturers, distributors and exporters who sell goods on deferred payment terms and want protection against buyer non-payment. The company operates from a single office in Moscow and describes itself as the leading player in this segment by premiums.

Bank of Russia licences: SI No. 4189 (voluntary property insurance) and PS No. 4189 (reinsurance). The company does not sell policies to individuals.

Types of insurance offered

  • Trade credit insurance — protection of domestic and export sales on deferred payment terms against buyer non-payment or insolvency.
  • Factoring insurance — a tool for banks and factoring companies that helps expand supply chain financing.
  • Advance payment insurance — protection against non-return of an advance if goods are not delivered.
  • Additional cover — syndications, top-up cover above the primary insurer's limits, and co-insurance.

A credit insurance policy also helps in dealing with banks: insured receivables improve a company's financial profile and financing terms. Solutions for other business risks can be found under insurance for business.
