About the company

NKO POVS Smart Insurance (Smart Strakhovanie) is a consumer mutual insurance society founded on 29 July 2008. According to the society, it is the legal successor of the mutual society "Khranitel". Its Bank of Russia licence is VS No. 4169 for mutual insurance (last reissued on 12.11.2025). The head office is in Moscow.

The society specialises in insuring aircraft, including agricultural unmanned aerial vehicles, special machinery, commercial property and professional liability, including the liability of UAV operators. Risks are additionally reinsured with Russian insurance and reinsurance companies. Smart Insurance is a member of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Societies (NAVS).

How to become a member

A mutual insurance society (OVS) insures only its own members: you first join the society under its membership regulations and charter (usually by paying an entrance fee) and then sign an insurance contract. Members take part in governance through the general meeting. Mutual insurance is regulated by Federal Law No. 286-FZ "On Mutual Insurance" and supervised by the Bank of Russia.

Types of insurance offered

To insure a UAV you will need its serial or registration number and documents confirming the qualification of the ground operator.

Key figures

According to the Bank of Russia, in 2025 the society collected about RUB 110,000 in contributions (120th place among insurers) and made no payouts. In the first half of 2026 it collected about RUB 15,000.
