About the company
LLC Insurance Medical Company Ural-Recept M was founded in 1993 as a specialised medical insurer. It used to offer both compulsory and voluntary medical insurance; today it provides only OMS and only in the Sverdlovsk Region.
Its branches operate in Yekaterinburg, Kamensk-Uralsky, Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Revda, Pervouralsk, Serov, Asbest, Nizhny Tagil, Kirovgrad, Degtyarsk, Severouralsk and Verkhnie Sergi. It has contracts with 211 medical organizations in the region, and expert reviews are carried out by 62 top-category physician experts. Charter capital: RUB 120 million.
How the company helps insured people
The SMO’s task is to protect the insured person’s right to free medical care. In practice the company:
- issues the OMS policy and provides an extract on request;
- reminds insured people about health check-ups (dispanserizatsiya) and preventive examinations through its insurance representatives;
- checks the timing, scope and quality of medical care and carries out expert reviews following complaints;
- helps if free care is refused or a clinic demands payment for services covered by the state guarantee programme;
- advises on choosing a clinic and a doctor and on booking diagnostic tests.
If you need more than the OMS programme offers — clinics without queues or a wider range of services — consider voluntary medical insurance (DMS); employers can look at DMS for employees.
How to become a client of an SMO or switch to another one
The insured person chooses the company in the OMS system. You do not pay for the policy — it is a free state guarantee.
- Submit an application to choose or change your SMO at the company’s office or on Gosuslugi.
- A change is allowed once per calendar year (apply by 1 November), and also if you move or your previous SMO stops operating.
- Your policy details are then entered in the unified register of insured persons; since 1 December 2022 the policy exists in digital form, and an extract is available on request.
The policy is valid throughout Russia but not abroad — for travel you need travel medical insurance.

According to the company, as of 1 January 2026 Ural-Recept M had 336,235 people insured under OMS; it has no insured people in other regions.
The money an SMO receives is not insurance premium in the usual sense: funds for medical care come from the regional OMS fund, so such companies are usually not ranked among insurers by premiums. The key indicator is the number of insured people.
