What the policy covers

Personal accident insurance pays money on death or disability after an injury, poisoning, road accident or other sudden event. Many programmes also pay for injuries according to a benefit schedule. The policy does not replace health insurance: it pays cash, not treatment.

How we calculated

The annual accidental death rate comes from Insight Insurance published base tariffs, separately for men and women: 0.085% for a man aged 30–34 and 0.059% for a woman; by age 60 the rate is about five times higher. Adding Group I–II disability raises the rate on average 1.776 times — the ratio given by the same tables.

As a cross-check, Bank of Russia statistics for 2025 show an average rate of 0.125% of the sum insured for accident policies with individuals and an average premium of RUB 879 (many such policies are sold together with loans and bank cards).

What else affects the price

  • Occupation and hobbies: dangerous work and active sports raise the rate.
  • The "injury" risk and the benefit schedule: the longer the list of injuries, the higher the price.
  • Period of cover: 24 hours or only at work, worldwide or only in Russia.
  • Number of insured people: family policies are sometimes cheaper.

Estimates by company

The company coefficient is the ratio of its average premium per accident policy to the market average (RUB 1,549) according to the Bank of Russia for 2025. No data or a ratio outside 0.5–2.0 means "price on request".

Preliminary estimate

A 32-year-old man, sum insured RUB 1 million, death and disability: 1,000,000 × 0.085% × 1.776 ≈ RUB 1,510 a year.

This is an indicative estimate. Read about types of cover on the accident insurance page; employers have a separate employee accident calculator. A request will help you choose a policy.
