About the company
AK BARS-Med Insurance Company LLC was established in 2004 in Kazan. It is a health insurance organisation (SMO): it has provided compulsory medical insurance (OMS) since 8 October 2004 and voluntary health insurance since 26 January 2005. According to the company, it is one of the leading SMOs in the OMS market of the Republic of Tatarstan.
It holds Bank of Russia licences SL No. 3943 (voluntary personal insurance) and OS No. 3943-01 (OMS). It is a member of the All-Russian Insurance Association and the Union of Insurers of Tatarstan. Property insurance within the AK BARS group is provided by AK BARS Insurance.
What to know about OMS: the OMS policy is free — issuing and servicing it costs nothing. An insured person may choose a health insurance organisation and switch once a year (by applying before 1 November), or more often when moving to another region. The SMO issues the policy, supports the insured person in obtaining medical care and protects their rights within the OMS system.

- Compulsory medical insurance (OMS) — issuing OMS policies, informing and supporting insured persons around the clock, protecting patients' rights, including when free care is refused;
