About the company

Medexpress has been on the insurance market since 1992. Its head office is in St Petersburg, with branches in Moscow, Arkhangelsk, Murmansk and Tikhvin. The general director is Tatiana Vasilyevna Gaponenko.

The company positions itself as an insurer with strong medical expertise: voluntary health insurance makes up most of its portfolio. Medexpress runs its own 24/7 Assistance call centre staffed with doctors, its quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015, and corporate clients get personal account managers. A mobile app and personal online account are available.

It holds Bank of Russia licences SL, SI and OS (OSAGO) No. 0141 dated 21.09.2015 and has been a member of the Russian Union of Motor Insurers since 2002. Paid-up authorised capital is RUB 392.5 million.

Types of insurance offered

For individuals:

For companies — employee health insurance, accident cover, business travel, migrant workers and international students, clinical trial participants, general liability and company property.

For OSAGO the company is a member of the RSA. Policy limits are RUB 400,000 for property damage and RUB 500,000 for harm to life and health. If an OSAGO insurer loses its licence, the RSA makes the compensation payment to the injured party.

Key figures

According to Bank of Russia data for 2025, the company collected RUB 943 million in insurance premiums and paid out RUB 586 million, ranking 69th among Russian insurers by premium volume. In the first half of 2026, premiums amounted to RUB 596 million and payouts to RUB 389 million (63rd place for the half-year).

In 2025 payouts were about 62% of premiums — a typical level for a portfolio dominated by health insurance.

Claim documents are accepted by e-mail at lossexpert@medexpress.ru, in St Petersburg at 14/26 Gorokhovaya Street, room 406 (Monday to Friday, 10:00–17:30), and at branches. Planned hospitalisation requires a compulsory medical insurance (OMS) policy. For OSAGO, register the accident and file a claim within five working days. In a dispute, an individual can apply to the Financial Ombudsman.
